Resident Stats Report

Guide on the resident stats report

Updated over a month ago

The Resident Stats report provides an overview of the monitoring and physical checks for your residents over a specified date range. It can be used when reviewing a residents care plan to evaluate frequency of physical checks and Ally trigger settings to help reduce disturbing your resident.

Resident Summary tab

The Resident Summary tab provides an average nightly summary of the physical checks for all of your residents.

The information in this tab :

  • Checks with Care: The average number of checks recorded per night where care was provided.

  • Checks with NO Care: The average number of checks recorded per night where no care was provided. This is further broken down into:

    • Unscheduled Checks where no care is provided.

    • Round Checks (scheduled checks) where no care is provided.

    • Activity Alert Checks where no care is provided.

  • Activity Alerts Dismissed: The average number of activity alerts that were dismissed.

How to use this information

You can use the Summary tab in line with your residents Care Plan review to:

  • Review the number of potentially disturbing checks for a resident

If the resident has a high number of Av Checks with No care per night and a low number of Av. Checks with care per night then see what type of check is increasing the number of unnecessary checks :

    • If the Av. Unscheduled checks with no care are high, discuss with your care team why they are physically checking on the resident between round checks and monitoring alerts. Remember new members of staff may need reminding only to check when prompted or in response to activity alert.

    • If the Av. Round checks with no care are high, consider whether the resident needs this number of potentially disturbing checks or if the Time between rounds if monitor is online and activated setting could be increased

    • If the Av. Activity Alert checks with No care are high, discuss with your care team why they are responding to this residents alerts by checking rather than dismissing the alert.

  • Review the residents monitoring alert trigger settings

If there is a high number of alerts resulting in Dismissal or No Care, then review if the residents trigger settings need adjusting

  • Reviewing if the Residents care needs have changed

Also review if the residents care needs, in the Care Plan, have changed and if the number of checks resulting in care has changed.

    • If a residents risk has changed since their last care plan review then review the trigger mode settings are still appropriate.

i.e If the resident had just left hospital when previously updating the care plan and were a high risk of fall but now they are lower risk of fall then consider if the alert trigger settings need adjusting. Reversely, don't forget if a resident is now high risk to adjust any trigger settings where appropriate.

To check if the average figures in the Summary tab represent a consistent change for the resident you can review both the Detailed Resident Information tab (below), and the Resident Timeline.

How to use this information

You can utilise the information in the Detailed Resident Information tab in several ways :

  • To validate your intended action after reviewing the summary tab

i.e. if the Summary tab shows a high number of Checks with No Care for a resident and you consider extending the Time between rounds, then validate that this is a frequent occurrence across the time period.

  • You can also review your staff's average response times and and how long the resident is monitored for during the shift.
