Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a time-sensitive code in addition to your password. Ally supports 2FA using an authenticator app.
We recommend using a popular and reliable app like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator, but many other services and password managers also offer built-in authenticator features.
Step 1: Open Your Ally Security Settings
Log in to your Ally account.
Click on your profile picture or name in the top right corner and navigate to Account Settings.
Select the Security tab.
Look for the section titled Two-Factor Authentication.
Step 2: Set Up 2FA on Ally
In the Two-Factor Authentication section, enter your account password to authorize changes.
From the dropdown menu, select Authenticator as your preferred method.
Click the Update Two-Factor Method button.
Step 3: Link Your Authenticator App
You will now be presented with a screen to link your authenticator app. There are two options to do this:
Option A: On Your Desktop Computer
Open your authenticator app on your mobile phone or tablet.
Choose the option to add a new account and select scan a QR code.
Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
The Ally account will now appear in your authenticator app.
Option B: On Your Mobile Device
If you are setting this up on the same device where your authenticator app is installed, simply press the Open Authenticator App button.
Your authenticator app will open automatically and prompt you to confirm linking your Ally account.
Step 4: Confirm and Activate 2FA
Once you have linked your app, a new, six-digit code will appear for Ally in your authenticator app.
Enter this current 2FA code into the field provided on your Ally screen.
Click Confirm 2FA.
You will receive a confirmation message that 2FA has been successfully activated. The next time you log in, you will be prompted to open your authenticator app and enter the time-sensitive code to complete your login.
