This document provides basic technical specifications required for Ally Labs’ wireless
monitoring system to be installed and operated in each resident’s rooms.
Networking Requirements:
WiFi signal in every room at the location the device will be installed. The signal needs to be a minimum of -70dBm, i.e. between -30dBm to -70dBm. The signal strength at the point the device is or will be installed can be tested as follows: Testing WiFi Signal Strength
Average UK consumer/enterprise-level broadband network speeds and bandwidth (~20Mbps download and ~4Mbps upload). If your ISP provider has imposed monthly data-transfer limits, please alert our support team.
WiFi configuration should ideally use WPA2 with visible SSID and password. If using WPA/WPA2-enterprise networks, please alert our support team.
The module in the acoustic monitoring device is IEEE 802.11.b/g/n/ac.
The devices can connect to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz networks. Ally devices do not
support the Wifi 6 GHz Band.
If you require individual MAC addresses for whitelisting devices please let us know. We can provide this 1 week in advance.
The following wildcard URLs must be whitelisted and accessible from the network:
*.ally.is, *.allycares.com, *.google.com, *.googleapis.com, *.resinio.pool.ntp.org, *.balena-cloud.com
TCP port 443 and UDP ports 123 and 53 must be accessible to devices on the network.
IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 must be accessible to devices on the network.
Note: Please let our support team know if there are any additional firewall, security
or WiFi constraints.
